Why Jocelyn Teaches This
Critical thinking programs from someone who teaches it.
Jocelyn Greenky, MBA, is Founder & CEO of Sider Road and an Adjunct Professor at Queens College CUNY (opens in a new tab), where she teaches Critical Thinking in the Business School. She received the first research grant awarded to an adjunct professor in the master's business program to study psychological safety in the global workplace, the foundation of her work helping teams ask better questions and make better decisions.
Over 40 years, she has led and turned around businesses from the inside: Global Digital Editorial Director at Hachette Filipacchi (ELLE, Car and Driver, Woman's Day), head of Broadcasting and Event Marketing at Wenner Media (Rolling Stone, Us), COO of Colin Cowie Lifestyle, and advisor to HBO, The Wall Street Journal, and Material Bank. She has spoken for Viacom, Kraft, NYU, and Columbia. She is the author of The Big Sister's Guide to the World of Work (Simon & Schuster) and the forthcoming Design Your Reputation, and has been featured on CNBC, CNN, FOX, The New York Times, and Forbes.
For Global Organizations
Critical Thinking for Global Organizations
Align distributed teams across markets, languages, and cultures.
The Challenge: Distributed teams across markets, speaking different languages, with different norms around evidence and authority. Add complexity — regulatory requirements, new technologies, competing priorities — and one miscommunication or poor decision gets replicated across five countries. Critical thinking is your risk mitigation.
Why This Matters for Global Operations
Critical thinking is how you align decision-making across cultures and time zones. It's how teams evaluate recommendations with rigor — whether from advisors, internal experts, or external sources. It's how you mitigate risk when your team can't see each other and operates in real time across borders.
Compounded Complexity: Global teams lacking critical thinking skills face compounded risk: language barriers + cultural differences in how evidence is viewed + navigating new tools and complexity = expensive mistakes that scale across markets.
What You Gain
- Align cross-cultural decision-making around shared principles
- Question recommendations across language and cultural barriers
- Reduce regulatory and compliance risk through rigorous evaluation
- Mitigate miscommunication in distributed teams
- Build trust in decision-making across cultures
- Retain global talent that values thoughtful leadership
The Three Dimensions (Across Borders)
- Awareness
- Recognize assumptions hidden by language and culture
- Ability
- Evaluate evidence rigorously — whether from experts or external sources
- Desire
- Foster inquiry across cultures and time zones
Program Formats
- Keynote
- 45–60 minutes — critical thinking as global risk mitigation
- Workshop
- 2–4 hours with case studies from global operations and cross-cultural decision-making
- Distributed Series

For Mid-Market & Scaling Companies
Critical Thinking for Scaling Companies
Build exceptional teams — from decision-making to leadership.
The Reality: As you scale fast, your teams make decisions without asking the right questions. They accept recommendations they don't fully evaluate. They miss red flags. Critical thinking isn't a luxury — it's what separates companies that scale successfully from those that implode from within.
Why This Matters Now
Speed is your strength. But when teams can't think critically — whether evaluating data, collaborating across functions, or leveraging new tools and AI — you compound mistakes across your organization. Critical thinking is how you scale without sacrificing quality of decision-making.
Complexity Is Accelerating: Your teams now navigate more information, more tools, more options than ever before. Without the skills to evaluate rigorously, they become vulnerable to costly missteps — whether from internal biases, incomplete data, or external tools they don't understand.
What You Gain
- Make faster, more confident decisions at every level
- Spot assumptions and risks before they derail growth
- Scale operations without losing quality of thinking
- Build a culture where smart people want to stay
- Evaluate data, advice, and tools (including AI) with discernment
- Move fast with confidence, not blind speed
The Three Dimensions of Critical Thinking
- Awareness
- Know what questions to ask — of data, teams, advisors, and tools
- Ability
- Evaluate evidence and spot when logic is incomplete
- Desire
- Foster a culture that rewards good questions
Program Formats
- Keynote
- 45–60 minutes — critical thinking as your scaling advantage
- Workshop
- 2–4 hours with real case studies from scaling companies (and decisions gone wrong)
- Lunch & Learn
- Ongoing series — practice for your leadership team
